Our Shelter

Our Shelter

How do I handle fear and self-doubt?

When I’m lying alone in bed at night, I have an extremely bad habit of hiding under my blanket when I’m afraid. Perhaps it’s a natural response to the dark. Little kids do the same thing when they’re scared of the monster under the bed or in the closet. To them, their blanket is a shelter, shielding them from their imaginary fears.

Self-doubt is not the right term to use; that’s a term of the world. I would replace “self-doubt” with “doubt in the Lord” since He is the One Who made you and knows you better than you know yourself. And in truth, I really don’t handle self-doubt, I welcome it. I get too caught up in how I feel rather than how I really am. It’s a bad habit I must break, pronto; otherwise it’ll follow me into the later years of my life.

But to answer the daily prompt, we must trust God in handing our fear and self-doubt. He’s been through every valley we’ll ever face, and He understand our minds and hearts. God is the answer to every problem humankind has, is, or ever will face.

What makes this meaningful is your honesty about habit and struggle. That awareness alone is already part of the change you’re talking about.

I’m Starmonia.

Welcome to my blog, where you
Learn about values right and true
And maybe some that are not-so-great
If you practice those, it’s not too late
To change your life and get washed clean
Jesus will set you permanently free
He is King and we’re His bride-queen
And that is how it will forever be. . .

If we believe.
