Happy Easter, everyone!

Most people think of Easter as a time of hunting for colored eggs, cute bunnies, eating candy, and hanging out with friends and family. And while those things are not in any way shape or form bad, they’re not the reason we celebrate Easter.

So why do we celebrate Easter?

Let’s look to the Bible.

Matthew 28:1-10 (NIV) says, “After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

And that is the reason we celebrate Easter: Jesus is alive!!

He is not dead!

He has risen!

He has conquered the grave so we could live!

He died for us so we could live and rose for us so we could rise with Him into eternal life if we believe He is the Messiah, the One Who came to save us!

We are alive because Jesus is alive!

Without Jesus, we have no hope!

And without Him, our faith is in vain and our worship is useless!

Without Him, we cannot survive!

If He is not alive, we wouldn’t be alive either!

But we are alive!

And so is He!

His resurrection has restored fellowship and faith and reconciled humanity with God, fulfilling all the ancient prophesies about Jesus dying, being buried, and rising again!

The core message of this Easter message I am writing is this:

HE LIVES!

And because He lives, we can face tomorrow with no fear or dread because He is living and reigning in heaven and is holding us in His hands! Nothing can snatch us away from Him! We are His children, and He is our living, breathing, holy King of life!

Dear Father,
Thank You for coming to earth to die for us so we could be raised to life with You! Thank You for being out Friend and Savior and for being gracious to us even when we nailed You to that tree and mocked You. We love You and pray that You will continue to work in the lives of all of us, believers and unbelievers alike. 
It’s in Your holy and majestic name we pray,
Amen!
