Book 5: Church Bells

Introduction

Yeah, I woke up on Easter Sunday
So sad, tears run down my face
I walk to the tomb, spices in my hand
My mourning echoes throughout the land.

My Savior is dead, He died on the cross
On Friday evening; now the world’s at a loss
Jesus is gone, He was buried in the grave
Wasn’t He the Messiah? Couldn’t He Himself save?

Questions run through my mind; I question the why
Why did my Lord Jesus have to die?
I arrive at the tomb, hardly makingΒ  a sound
Then I let my spices drop to the ground, for. . .

The guards are unconscious! The stone is rolled away!
Where did He go? Did they take Him away?
I scout around, feeling frantic and weak
And trying all the answers to seek.

I run into the tomb, feeling pressed hardΒ
And there I see an angel on guard
He looks at me and says, “Do not fear.
Go on your way, for Jesus is not here!

“He is risen, just as he said He would be!
Now go, child of God, in faith, heed me.”
I run out of the tomb, feeling swift and sure.
Evil has now died; good will forever endure!

So praise the Lord! Hear the church bells ring!
Out to the song of the Lord you sing!
What happens next, no one can tell
But God holds the future, so ring those church bells!

Ring those church bells! Ring those church bells!
The good news now proclaim!
Worthy is the Lamb, worthy is the King,
So sing out and praise His name!

  1. What a beautiful and joyful reminder of the hope we have through the resurrection. The empty tomb changed everything, and we can rejoice because Jesus is alive. πŸ™
